After logging two assists, 19-year-old Brian Gutiérrez is your MOTM. With Shaqiri out injured, Guti is thriving in the number 10 role, having registered 3 assists in his last two games.
The young playmaker was incredibly dynamic against Miami. In a very wide-open match, the teenager was able to attack space with and without the ball. His constant desire to go forward helped his team create numerous scoring opportunities and put 3 past Miami tonight.
Guti’s exceptional ability to attack space was on full display for the Fire’s game-winner in the 93rd minute. Guti drove at the heart of Miami’s defense before dishing the ball to a free Kei Kamara, who proceeded to slot home the winner.
Guti has certainly made a case for why he is the Fire’s best number ten. Hopefully, Ezra Hendrickson has recognized that Guti is much more effective centrally and will continue to deploy him as the ten even when Shaqiri returns.
