The Chicago Fire will be looking to build off of their massive win at midweek against Austin FC in the U.S. Open Cup with another positive result tonight against the New England Revolution.
Unlike the Fire, the Revolution started the season red hot and had just lost one game (LAFC 4, Revs 0) up until May 9th, where they crashed out of the U.S. Open Cup. On that day, a USL Championship club, the Pittsburgh Riverhounds, handed the Revs their second loss of the 2023 campaign. The Revolution were then defeated back to back by Inter Miami and Philadelphia in the league and Chicago will be looking to extend that losing streak to four matches.
The biggest injury news of the season for the Fire less than 24 hours ago, when the club announced that Chris Mueller will miss the remainder of the 2023 campaign due to his hip injury.
In terms of other injuries for Chicago, Jonathan Dean, Sergio Oregel Jr, and Carlos Terán all remain ruled out for tonight while Victor Bezerra and Justin Reynolds are also unavailable.
For the Revolution, Gustavo Bou, Brandon Bye, Nacho Gil, Henry Kessler, Mariel, and Tommy McNamara are all unavailable for tonight’s match, while Dylan Borrero remains ruled out for the season.
