It was jubilation for the Fire last time out when they won by a score of 3-0 at midweek. Some highlights included Guti’s first MLS goal at Soldier Field, an absolute screamer from Xherdan Shaqiri, and another clean sheet for Chris Brady and company. Wednesday’s win extended the Fire’s win streak to two and will be looking to win three in a row for the first time this season.
Their opponents from across the border, Toronto FC, currently sit 14th in the East in what has been a tumultuous season thus far. The visitors have been in abysmal form as of late, having lost their last five matches.
While the Fire have certainly turned things around following the international break and now find themselves in a playoff (playoff play-in) spot, the visitors remain at the bottom of the pecking order.
Regarding injuries for the Fire, the report is the same as for the midweek match against Montreal. The team will be without Chris Mueller, Fede Navarro, Javi Casas, Victor Bezerra, and Wyatt Omsberg.
For Toronto, Federico Bernadeschi, Michael Bradley, Adama Diomande, Christian Gutiérrz, and Victor Vázquez are all ruled out for tonight. Questionable inclusions include Matt Hedges, Lorenzo Insigne, Deandre Kerr, Greg Ranjitsingh, and Sigurd Rosted.
