A solid 3-0 win against Chicago House during the midweek is certainly what the Chicago Fire needed following the heartbreak at Mercedes-Benz Stadium last Sunday. The Fire will be looking to return to winning ways in the league against a Red Bulls team that has not won a match since mid-March.
Not only have they not won in a month, but it was the team’s only league victory this season: a 2-1 triumph over the Columbus Crew. Like the Fire, the Red Bulls have been plagued with an annoying number of ties, having drawn five of their first nine games (Chicago have tied four of the first eight).
Both of these teams have struggled for both points and with injuries in this early stage of the season. While the injury problem persists for New York, but the Fire seem to be returning to full strength. Jairo Torres, Fede Navarro, and Gastón Giménez have all returned to match fitness and can all be expected to see minutes for the Fire tonight. Victor Bezerra remains ruled out and is the only Fire player unfit enough to dress for tonight.
For New York, eight first-team players are ineligible for tonight’s match. Serge Ngoma, Luquinhas, Lewis Morgan, Matt Nocita, Steven Sserwadda, and Frankie Amaya are all out injured while Dante Vanzeir and Kyle Duncan are both suspended.
