The ninth week of games was tamer than some of its predecessors, but there were still plenty of notable results from across both conferences. Unfortunately, as bad as some other teams have been this season, it is Sporting Kansas City is the last team remaining in the league without a win. That may be in part due to earning three red cards in five games, the club’s desire to sue St. Louis fans over usage of the name “soccer capital of America”, or really anything else. Tell the spoon to warm up!
RSL Top San Jose
Real Salt Lake got a surprise 3-1 win when hosting in-form San Jose with goals from Jasper Löffelsend, Jefferson Savarino, and Andrés Gómez. Cristian Espinoza scored an equalizer in the 49th minute to go 1-1, but San Jose could not stop Real from continuing to score. Real Salt Lake now moves to a 3-0-5 record and into ninth place in the West.

The Galaxy Won a Game!
To the delight (or absolute disgust for some reason) of many Los Angeles soccer fans, the Galaxy finally got their first win of the season by a score of 2-0 over Austin FC. Goals came from Chicharito and Riqui Puig in the 54th and 64th minutes in a dominant performance over the Verde and Black. The Galaxy remains in 14th place in the West, but at least have a foot in the door to get their season going somewhere.

Philly v. Toronto Goal Fest
In a six-goal thriller, the Philadelphia Union beat Toronto 4-2 thanks to a Mikael Uhre hattrick and an insane Lukas MacNaughton own goal. Goals for Toronto came from Lorenzo Insigne and Richie Laryea, but both happened after it was already 4-0. Philly move to seventh place in the East with a 3-2-4 record after some hiccups in form so far this season. Looking at Toronto, where has it all gone wrong? Their project was very exciting following the signings of Lorenzo Insigne and Federico Bernardeschi and the installment of Bob Bradley as head coach. Toronto holds a 1-6-2 record and sits in 12th place in the East.

A Big Away win for D.C.
Wayne Rooney just let out a sigh of relief. DC beat Orlando 3-1 after both teams scored within the first 25 minutes. Taxi Fountas, Donovan Pines, and Christian Benteke each had tallies of their own, while Duncan McGuire scored for Orlando. With this win, DC leapfrogged Orlando to hop into eighth place in the East.
