Alex Calabrese

My name is Alex Calabrese, and I am the Editor-in-Chief and Chicago Fire beat reporter for MenInRed97. This will be my fourth year covering Chicago soccer and the third season covering the Fire and MLS! This season, I am looking forward to giving you an inside look at the Men in Red, including inside scoops, extensive gameday coverage, and exclusive interviews with players and coaches. I am a fan of Chelsea and the Cubs, and you can always find me cheering on Syracuse basketball and the Orange soccer team!

Staff Writer

Christian Hirschboeck

My name is Christian Hirschboeck, and I am a staff writer here at MenInRed97. In 2024 I will be covering player ratings for every match, and authoring a few other smaller pieces throughout the season. This is my second year with MenInRed97, and I am hoping to help further support the Fire’s growing community, and the Chicago soccer community in general, by providing content that is entertaining, engaging, and informative. Besides the Fire, I avidly support Bayern Munich, and outside of soccer, I currently attend Lake Forest College, sell vintage, love the gym, and take FIFA pro clubs more seriously than most.

Colin Chough

My name is Colin Chough and I am currently a senior in high school deciding on a college destination. This is my second season as a staff writer for MenInRed97 and this season, you can expect me to be covering the Fire from a tactical and analytical perspective. I cannot wait for the season to start and to see if this new and improved Fire team can improve under Frank Klopas!

Managing Editor

Tim Hotze

I’m Tim Hotze, and I’ve been a Fire fan since I was a kid watching DaMarcus Beasley making waves as a young player years before I was living in Chicago. My interest in the club was rekindled in recent years, and I’m looking forward to previewing each match for you and handling some of the matchday coverage, alongside analysis and nerding out about MLS roster rules I’m also a long-term Ottawa Senators and Shrewsbury Town fan for reasons too convoluted to get into now. When not covering the team, there’s a good chance I’ll be hanging out with my two rescue dogs, a pit mix and a cattle dog retriever mix.

Creative Editor

John Carollo

Hi there! I’m Jiggly, the Creative Editor for MenInRed97. I’ve been following the Fire since before I was born, and been writing about them since I was in high school. I’ve previously done SuperDraft scouting and Chicago Red Stars coverage, but nowadays I’m here to write about the more emotional side of the game. My passion is less in journalism and more in writing, meaning my goal is to make reading about the Fire fun. Maybe make you cry a bit too, but that’s what watching the Fire does to a person. I’m also a massive weeb, running a YouTube channel about anime and sports. I do music too, as the unofficial composer for MIR97’s podcasts. But most of the time I’m playing Football Manager.

Staff Writer

Max Sánchez Josa

My name is Max Sánchez Josa and I am a staff writer, videographer, and scriptwriter for MenInRed97. This will be my second year (first full year) covering the Chicago Fire and MLS. I mainly write about the game of soccer and analyze how the Fire plays, how they can improve, and a lot of the tactics behind the beautiful game. In-depth analyses of very specific aspects of the game is what I do best. I was born in Barcelona with my entire family still living there so, naturally, I love FC Barcelona. I am fluent in four languages (English, Spanish, Mandarin, and Catalan) and have been playing soccer at club level since the age of ten. Other than that, I am extremely excited to bring you Fire content from what is looking to be an exciting season.
